Sizing the board

How can a 64 x 64 square board fit on my screen?

Yes, the lower board is huge. Luckily you don't need to see the entire board to play—in fact, you can't see the full board because that inability is a main point of the game. However, since your playing area can be large, you can adjust the size of the board display area. The board window that sits below the band of controls at the top of the screen can be set to show much of the full board, or much less, depending on your piece(s), view(s), and preferences.

The way to change the board's presentation size is to adjust the two sliders at the top left hand side of the board. Both size sliders are set to minimum when the page opens. When you click on the red handle of a slider and drag it towards the other side, the first thing that happens is that the board display area shrinks down to match where the slider is. As you keep dragging, the board display opens up. When the size is right let your clicking finger up and the board stays that size.

The next step is to make the sizing persistent, otherwise the next time you log in the board display area will be at its default size again. You can make the board size persistent by clicking the Save icon (). The Save icon is at the top left hand corner of the board, right between the two sliders. Set the board display area's size and click save as often as you like. A side benefit to saving your preferred board size is that when the page refreshes, not only will the board be sized to your settings, but also any minor layout issues that may show up in certain versions of some browsers when you first size the board should be gone.

  Step-by-step

1.
The lower board is the equivalent of eight regular chess boards across and down, so some scrolling will be necessary. Set the board size to best suit your monitor and tolerance for scrolling.

2.
A close up of the Save icon and the sliders at the top and left hand sides of the top board.
