The first step

This page shows step one for new MetaTeam installations: changing the admin password and email address.

Find people

  • Go to the Person page to find the admin user. Click the pencil icon to edit admin. The pencil icon always means edit. You always edit individuals' records from this find page.

Update admin

  • Change the password (important!) and the email address. If you purchased the full version of MetaTeam you definitely want admin to get notifications at the correct address.

Add a person

  • When you submit the form with your edits you come back to the find person page. admin will be visible because admin begins with 'a' and 'a' is the default selection when you get to the find person page. Next, click the add person link at the lower left of the screen.

The add person form

  • This time the form is empty. Fill it in with your own information. Do this so that you don't have to do everything as admin. Using the admin account is great for administrative tasks and for getting started. But at some point you probably want to also work as part of a team, project or group. For that you would probably want to log in as yourself. Important: look at the bottom of the add person form and you will see a drop-down labeled "Active". This drop-down determines if the new person can log in and become a member of teams, projects and groups. If you are not active you can not work in MetaTeam. Set this drop-down to "true" for your new account.

Add person success

  • When you submit the form you get a success message at the top of the page.

Finding your new person

  • But, wait, where is my new person?! Unless your new account's username begins with 'a' you probably aren't looking at it in the list. The answer is to browse the list by the first letter of the new username. If your username is jdoe, just click on the 'J' and your account will appear.

Next steps

That was easy! You are off and running with MetaTeam. But there is much more to learn and do. Try the Getting Started page to learn more of the basics.
